The training by Transparency International – Georgia for the Bureaus of Single Mandate MPs

On December 6, TI-Georgia held a training sessions for the Single Mandate MPs’ Bureaus in Western Georgia.

The subjects of the training sessions were selected by the representatives of the Bureaus and they were related to the functions and duties of the central and local governments and parliamentary control.

TI-Georgia project manager, Parliamentary Secretary Lika Sajaia informed the trainees about activities of the organization and one of the important directions – promulgation of the report on Parliamentary activity where the special Chapter is dedicated to activities of Single Mandate MPs. According to her, the efficiency of Parliamentary oversight depends largely on the performance of the Parliamentary Staff.

The functions and duties of the central and local governments was presented by TI Georgia’s Senior Lawyer, Gigi Chikhladze. Lika Sajaia presented the theme on parliamentary control, while the assessment of the performance of the Parliamentary staff was presented by TI Georgia’s Senior Lawyer, Tamar Tatanashvili.

A similar training was also held for Bureaus of Eastern Georgia in April of 2017.  The training was supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
