Amendments to the Civil Procedure Code were presented to the Parliament

131th meeting of Bureau of parliament

1. A legislative initiative on amendments to the Civil Procedure Code of Georgia by E. Beselia and G. Popkhadze was registered at the Bureau. The reason of the amendments is the Constitutional Court’s decision on LLC ,,Georgian Manganese vs Parliament of Georgia’’ case.

According with the changes:

  • A person who files  claim provision, is obliged to compensate the loss of defendant. According to the current provisions of the law, the term of this obligation is 7 days, but according with the changes the term will be determined by court, no less than 30 days;

  • The term of appeal of decision of court is defined to 5 days.

2. The Bureau registered an initiative by the Healthcare and Social Issues Committee on amendments to of Law of Georgia On State Pension.

  • According with the amendments, paid work in occupied territories won’t be considered as public work. (And thus won’t result in the termination of state pension)

3. A legislative amendments on the amendments to the Law of Georgia on High Education by MP A. Kantaria was registered at the Bureau. The main reason of changes is different procedure for awarding of Doctor degrees and associated degrees.

According with the changes:

  • According with the statement of High educational institutional of Art, a person might be chosen as Dr. or other academical degree if he/she is experienced in pedagogical works no less than 8 years and suits with the demands;
  • Determine the rule of taking permanent position of the professor.
